Our church mission statement says, “We will love God. We will love each other. We will learn and obey the Word of God. We will commit our time, our talents, and our resources to the task of telling others about the love of God found in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
From this statement, we have four core values that we treasure as a church.
The Bible defines worship as giving your life as a living sacrifice to God. (Romans 12:1-2) At Mt Zion, it is our desire that our lives would be completely His and that we would serve Him with everything we’ve got out of love for Him.
Jesus said His church would be identified with the world by how they loved one another. (John 13:34-35) At Mt Zion, we seek to be a church that loves one another extravagantly. This is the evidence we hope shows the world that Jesus loves them.
3. The Bible
We believe the Bible is God’s written revelation of Himself to us. It has all that we need in it for life and godliness. (2 Peter 1:3) It also has all in it that we need for our church. We want everything we do to be founded on the Bible. We hope the songs we sing are filled with the words of Scripture. Our pastor seeks to preach the Word of God faithfully. And we hope that our Sunday School classes and other studies we do will be centered around God’s Word.
4. The Great Commission
Jesus left the church one job when He ascended to heaven: Go make disciples. (Matthew 28:19) This is to be done through evangelism and discipleship. Evangelism is that of proclaiming the good news of God’s love to those who are not Christians so that they may come to know Jesus. Discipleship is that of teaching the Bible to those who are Christians that they may grow in their faith. We believe this is our marching orders as a church.
